Understand saving, signed state and record history
Know when your note is saved, what signing locks, and how corrections are kept in the record.
Purpose
On the note screen, Keel doesn't save as you type. Your changes are saved when you select Save draft or Sign off. Once signed, a note is locked. A later correction is added as a new signed version, and the version it replaces is kept.
Steps
Step 1: Check whether your typing is saved
Dolook at the mark beside the box you're typing in.
You'll seetyping, unsaved while your words are only on your screen.
if you try to leave with unsaved typing, your browser asks you first.
Step 2: Save your draft
Doselect Save draft in the top bar.
You'll seeSaving…, then the mark changes to you typed.
Sign off also saves first. If the save fails, nothing is signed and the key reads
Save failed · try again.
Step 3: Read a signed note
Doopen the note with View note on the appointment page.
You'll seeSIGNED → by the doctor's name and the time, boxes you can't edit, and Amend in the top bar.
Soa signed note is the record. It changes only through a signed correction.
Step 4: Read a corrected note
Dolook at the line at the bottom of the note, and at the boxes marked Amended.
You'll seeAMENDED → by who corrected it and when, and replaces the version signed by the earlier signer.
Each changed box shows Was: with the text it replaced.
Sonothing is overwritten. You can see what changed, who changed it and when.

on the appointment page, the Consultation card shows Draft note ready for a draft and
Signed for a signed note.
Limits
autosave is not available on the note screen. Save before you leave it.
if you leave a correction without signing it (Discard correction), the signed note doesn't
change.
Checked against the Keel product source and in the live product on 2026-10-11. No step on this page was observed. Typing and saving a note, a signed note and a corrected note were not exercised.
