Prepare the room and microphone
Set up your browser, microphone and room so the scribe hears the whole consultation.
Purpose
The note can only include what the microphone heard. A minute of setup before the first patient saves a visit with missing audio.
Before you start
Keel checks only two things for you: that some sound reaches the microphone, and that your
browser isn't degrading the audio. The rest is up to the room.
enrol your voice once, so the scribe can tell your voice apart from the patient's.
Steps

it when the browser asks.

Step 3: Set up the room
Dokeep the device close to where you and the patient talk. Close the door and turn off loud fans if you can.
Keel won't warn you about a noisy room or quiet voices, so set this up before you start.
Step 4: Watch the first seconds
Doafter you start recording, say a few words and glance at the screen.
You'll seecaptions as you speak. If nothing at all reaches the microphone for 15 seconds, CHECK AUDIO and

Limits
a quiet room or a silent examination doesn't trigger CHECK AUDIO. It appears only when no
sound at all is reaching the microphone.
Keel doesn't check how loud or clear the speech is.
Checked against the Keel product source and in the live product on 2026-10-11. No step on this page was observed. The microphone prompt, the Check audio warnings and the after-recording sound-gap note were not exercised.
