End a sitting
End your sitting when you leave, so the desk stops sending patients in, and decide what happens to anyone still waiting.
Purpose
When you leave the clinic, end your sitting. The desk then stops sending patients in. Keel checks your room first and tells you who would be left waiting.
Before you start
only the doctor can end their own sitting.
finish the consultation you're in first. Keel won't end a sitting while a patient is with you.
ending a sitting doesn't sign your notes. Any note you haven't signed still needs signing.
Steps
Step 1: Open your sitting
Doon Today, select the key at the top of the day card that reads IN and your start time.
You'll seeON THE FLOOR, You're in since and the time, how many patients are still waiting (if any), and
End sitting.
Step 2: End the sitting
Doselect End sitting.
You'll seeif nobody is waiting, DAY ENDED and Your sitting ended at with the time.
Sothe desk has stopped sending patients in.
if a patient is still with you, you'll see NOT YET and Open Token with their number instead.
Nothing has been ended. Finish that consultation, then try again.
Step 3: Decide about waiting patients
Doif you see BEFORE YOU GO, read the list of who is waiting, then select End anyway or Stay open.
You'll seeeach waiting patient's token, where they are (In the waiting room or Out at the lab) and how
long they've waited.
Soif you end anyway, they're recorded as having left without being seen.
at a clinic with more than one doctor, the warning says if another doctor would take some of them.
Result
You'll seeDAY ENDED and The desk has stopped sending patients in.
for 10 minutes you can take it back with I ended by mistake (if something's wrong).
If it doesn't work
- If you see: No IN key on TodayCheck you're on your own day and that you pressed I'm here (before this)
- If you see: NOT YET · Token … is with you right now.Select Open Token with that number, finish the consultation, then end again
- If you see: BEFORE YOU GOChoose End anyway or Stay open (step 3)
- If you see: That didn't go through.Select Try again. Your sitting is still open.
- If you see: This sitting is not yours to end.Only the doctor in the sitting can end it
- Working: DAY ENDEDDone
Limits
if the list of waiting patients changes before you press End anyway, Keel warns you again about
the new list.
finishing a consultation, signing a note and ending a sitting are three separate actions.
Checked against the Keel product source and in the live product on 2026-10-10. No step on this page was observed. The In key, the On the floor window, ending a sitting, the waiting-patient warning and the refusals were not exercised.
