Understand queue and appointment status

Know what each appointment and queue status means, from Scheduled to Done, and what the token and wait show.

Purpose

Every appointment carries a status that shows where the patient is in their visit. This page explains each one, on Appointments, on Today and on the appointment itself.

Before you start

the waiting statuses are used when Reception desk is on. When it's off, a patient goes from booked straight to In consult.

Steps

Step 1: Before the visit

Dolook at a card on Appointments.

You'll seeScheduled, Rescheduled or Confirmed.

Sothe patient is booked and hasn't arrived yet.

the appointment page adds timing, such as in 2 hours, due now or 15 minutes late.

Step 2: Waiting

Dolook at a checked-in patient's card.

You'll seeWaiting, Called in or Deferred.

SoWaiting means checked in. Called in means called to the doctor. Deferred means out of the room for now, for example at the lab.

all three count as waiting in the doctor's column.

Step 3: With the doctor

Dolook at the card of a patient the doctor has started.

You'll seeIn consult, then Consult ended.

SoConsult ended means the consultation is over but the note isn't finished. Complete closes the visit.

Step 4: Closed

Dolook at a finished visit's card.

You'll seeDone, No-show, Cancelled or Left w/o being seen, on a dimmed card.

SoLeft w/o being seen means the patient was still waiting when the doctor ended the sitting.

Step 5: On Today

Doopen the queue on Today.

You'll seepills such as Scheduled, Waiting 12m, In chair 5m and Done · 15m. Seen patients may read Seen · note not signed, Seen · note coming or Seen · note failed.

Sothe minutes show how long the patient has waited, been with the doctor or took.

Step 6: The line on an appointment

Doopen an appointment.

You'll seeToken, Place in line and Wait, for example #4 and About 10 min.

before check-in these read None minted, Not in a line and Nothing to quote, with the reason underneath.

Result

Soyou can tell at a glance whether a patient is booked, waiting, with the doctor or finished.

If it doesn't work

If you see: … token is minted when the desk checks them in.Check the patient in (before this)
If you see: Nobody has opened today's sitting yet, so no token can be minted.The doctor presses I'm here on Today, or the desk checks the patient in from Appointments
If you see: No waiting line at this centreNothing to fix. The patient goes straight in when the doctor is ready.
If you see: This visit has left the line.The patient is no longer waiting. Check the visit's status.
If you see: Not resolved here under Place in line or WaitThat figure isn't worked out on this page. Check the doctor's queue on Today.
Working: A status from the list aboveDone

Limits

there's no button to set Called in or Deferred.

Seen · note not signed means the doctor still has to sign that note.

Verification details

Checked against the Keel product source and in the live product on 2026-10-10. No step on this page was observed. Appointment cards in each status, the Today queue and an appointment's line panel were not exercised.
