Understand busy-time import and appointment push
See what Keel reads from a doctor's Google Calendar, what it adds to it, and when each happens.
Purpose
Once a doctor's Google Calendar is connected, two separate things happen. Keel reads the doctor's busy time from Google, so agents don't offer it. Keel also adds the doctor's Keel bookings to Google, so the doctor sees their day there. This guide shows each one.
Before you start
this applies only to doctors whose Google Calendar is connected.
there's no setting to turn either direction on or off. Both run once the calendar is
connected.
Steps
Step 1: See imported busy time
Doopen Calendar and go to a day when the doctor has events in Google.
You'll seeeach busy event shown as Busy · Google. Point at one to see Synced from Google Calendar.
Soagents won't offer these times. Keel takes only the time, not the event's title.
events marked as free in Google are ignored. All-day events block the whole day.
Step 2: Refresh busy time now
Doselect Sync now at the top of the Doctors list, then reload the page.
You'll seeCalendar synced., and any new busy time on the calendar.
Keel also reads the calendar when it's first connected, and again once a day.
Step 3: Check a booking in Google
Doafter a booking is made for the doctor, open their Google Calendar.
You'll seean event called Appointment · Airgent, sometimes with the visit type, for example
Appointment · Airgent · Consultation. Its description reads Booked in Airgent — details in the app.
Sothe doctor sees their day in Google, but no patient name, reason or notes leave Keel.
moving the appointment in Keel moves the event. Cancelling it, or marking a no-show, removes
it.
Result
Sobusy time flows into Keel, and bookings flow out to Google. Each direction stands alone.
Keel's own bookings that show up in Google aren't counted again as busy time.
If it doesn't work
- If you see: Calendar needs reconnect under the doctorSelect Reconnect (fix a calendar connection problem)
- If you see: Calendar sync failed — reconnect the calendar.Select Reconnect under the doctor
- If you see: Nothing to sync yet.No calendar is connected yet (connect a supported calendar)
- If you see: A Google event is missing in KeelCheck it's marked busy, is on the doctor's main calendar and is within the next 60 days, then Sync now
- Working: Calendar synced.Done
Limits
Keel reads only the doctor's main Google calendar, and only the next 60 days.
change appointments in Keel, not in Google. Moving or deleting the Google event doesn't change
the appointment.
a booking still goes through if adding it to Google fails. Keel tries again later.
if a sync fails, Keel keeps the busy time it last read.
Checked against the Keel product source and in the live product on 2026-10-09. A connection showing Calendar needs reconnect, with its Reconnect control, was observed. Imported busy time, Sync now and bookings added to Google were not observed.
