Check before retrying a booking
Before you book again after an error, check whether the first booking saved, so the patient isn't booked twice.
Purpose
An error while booking doesn't always mean the booking failed. Could not reach the server… and Could not book appointment. Try again. don't tell you whether it saved. Keel only stops a second booking for the same patient at exactly the same time, or one that overlaps the same doctor, so a retry at another time can book the patient twice. Every check below should pass before you book again.
Checklist
- If you see: Keel didn't show Appointment booked. or open the visitIt's booked. Don't retry.
- If you see: Keel didn't show Appointment saved but reminders did not start…It's booked. Don't retry. Appointment saved but notification failed
- If you see: The patient isn't on Appointments for that dayChoose Today, Week or Month and the doctor, or look on Calendar. If you find the visit, it's booked: use it.
- If you see: For a walk-in, the patient isn't already on Appointments for todayThe form stays open after a walk-in is booked. Don't select Book visit again.
- If you see: You're going by Keel, not just an agent's message or a finished callA message isn't a booking. Confirm an agent-created booking
- Working: All of the aboveBook it again. Book an appointment
Good to know: if the retry says This patient already has a visit booked at exactly this time…, your first try saved. Find that visit and use it.
Good to know: if the patient ends up booked twice, cancel the extra visit (cancel an appointment).
Good to know: the search box on Calendar can't be used yet, so look through the doctor's day instead.
Checked against the Keel product source and in the live product on 2026-10-10. The Appointments period choices and doctor filter, and the Calendar's Day, Week and Month views, were observed. The messages after a failed or repeated booking, booking a walk-in, and the Calendar search box were not exercised.
